Muyejebo Eonhae
Muyejebo Eonhae
As a book on martial arts, Muyejeobo Eonhae (武藝諸譜諺解) was compiled and translated from the Chinese military treatise Jixiao Xinshu (New Treatise on Military Efficiency) by Han Gyo (韓嶠, 1556~1627) from Joseon’s military training office Hunryeondogam (訓鍊都監). The book was published in 1598 after the Joseon army suffered a massive defeat from the Japanese during Imjin Waeran (Japanese Invasion of Joseon). The book describes six close-range combat skills compiled from Jixiao Xinshu, with 6 pictures and Korean annotations for better understanding. It is the oldest book of martial arts in Korea.
