Seunggyeongdo noripan
Seunggyeongdo noripan
This is a board game to help children to be familiarized with the names of government posts, such as champan ('vice minister'), panseo ('minister'), yeonguijeong ('prime minister'), etc. Four to six people can play the game. A player throws a yuch (윷 ‘a stick dice’), and moves the chess piece as indicated by the dice. One advances from the lowest rank to the highest, and the player who reaches the highest rank first is the winner. One may be exiled but can be reinstated depending on the next dice, but one has to withdraw from the game upon a death penalty. The game is also called Jonggeyongdo (종경도 從卿圖) or Seungjeongdo (승정도 陞政圖). Both have the meaning of 'the diagram of government posts.
